Description: Medical writers are responsible for
duties related to the development, implementation and
timely delivery of a variety of medical communication
projects. The qualities of a successful candidate include
sound clinical knowledge, the ability to rapidly assimilate
new scientific data, solid medical writing/editing skills,
strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability
to simultaneously manage a number of projects and adhere
to deadlines in a team based work setting. Familiarity
with continuing education guidelines and procedures
as they apply to the pharmaceutical industry is a strong
asset.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: • Writes
and edits accurate and concise clinical material in
a variety of formats/media and work with other science
and editorial staff to prepare the material for client
review. • Work closely with team managing editors and
managers of scientific affairs to ensure that projects
meet the content expectations of the client while ensuring
the clinical accuracy and relevance of the material.
• Develop ongoing relationships with key clinical thought
leaders and work closely with them to shape the content
of symposia, monographs, advisory board/consultant meetings,
continuing education material and other projects. •
Understand the client’s marketing strategies and goals
and blend commercial awareness with scientifically balanced
writing. • Collaborate with in-house production staff
and outside vendors to develop charts, graphics and
other visual elements to enhance copy.
