Job Title: Manufacturing
Technician II:(s)- 1st Shift |

Description:
· Work directly with production supervisors on a daily
basis to improve process capabilities and solve immediate
manufacturing problems. Such problems could include
quality issues, set-up procedures, tooling or machine
problems.
· Work with engineering to specify materials, tooling
and processes in the supply of special products and
to evaluate new tools and products
· Troubleshoot and program the machine’s programmable
logic controller (PLC).
· Evaluate and inspect tooling, gages, instruments,
and test equipment for damage or wear and repair as
needed. Coordinate tool repair through available resources,
internal & external. Coordinate these repairs through
dealings with production control, purchasing and suppliers
.
· Learn, evaluate and help implement any of the tools
and techniques associated with lean and cellular manufacturing,
including 5S, value stream mapping, mistake proofing,
quick change-over, just-in-time, autonomous maintenance,
overall equipment effectiveness, etc
· Recommend and implement cost effective changes in
processes and tools using knowledge of materials and
their characteristics
· Ability to use their technical knowledge and experience
to provide input on new products / part designs.
· Work with department supervisors and engineers to
solve quality and process problems and improve process
capability within the facility
· Improve or update tools, gages, instruments, and fixtures
as needed. Document such changes for future reference.
· Review assembly fixtures for safety, mistake proofing
and productivity improvements.
· Keep current in knowledge of new assembly equipment,
techniques, controls, and processes as they relate to
part assembly.
· Do preventive maintenance and troubleshoot assembly
automation to keep equipment producing at maximum output.
· Prepare downtime/uptime charts monthly for all automation.

Requirements:
§ AS Degree in a Technical field required
§ 2-3 years knowledge of Southco manufacturing processes
preferred
§ Ability to learn, understand, and use the Business
System and Quality System
§ Knowledge of assembly techniques, PLC programming
and automation.
§ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
and ability to do presentations.
§ PC literate with spreadsheets and word processing.
§ Ability/experience interacting with customers on
quality, product development, and/or production issues.
§ Strong problem solving skills.
§ Fluent in reading blue prints.
§ Ability to perform job functions while standing,
sitting, or walking. (Frequent)
§ Ability to climb stairs. (Frequent)
§ Ability to work from elevated areas. (Frequent)
§ Ability to squat and perform job functions. (Frequent)
§ Ability to fully use both hands/arms including ability
to reach in all directions, perform pinching operations,
complete repetitive tasks, and possess good grip strength.

§ Ability to lift 55 pounds, unassisted including
unassisted lifts from floor level to heights of 48
inches. (Frequent)
§ Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected with
good peripheral vision capabilities.(Continuous)
§ Ability to determine distance/relationship between
objects; depth perception. (Continuous)
§ Ability to match or discriminate between colors.

§ Ability to bend and twist at the neck and waist.
